A new voice is making waves in Champagne
In La Neuville-aux-Larris, Alexis and Jeanne Limar have taken their family heritage and set out to do things their own way. In 2023, Domaine Limar was born: a tiny 3-hectare estate spread across La Neuville-aux-Larris, Cuchery, Belval-sous-Châtillon and the Grand Cru village of Mailly-Champagne.
No shortcuts. No synthetic chemicals. Every vine tended by hand. In the cellar, spontaneous fermentations, no fining or filtration, and ageing exclusively in Burgundy barrels for the cuvées that call for it.
The result? Champagnes of remarkable purity, energy and precision.
Curious to discover what passion, discipline and savoir-faire can bring to Champagne? Our November Discovery Box takes you inside the world of Domaine Limar with two cuvées that capture the spirit of this young estate and its distinctive identity.
Champagne Nos Terres Amoureuses Brut Nature 2022
On the south-facing slopes of Belval-sous-Châtillon in the Vallée de la Marne, old Meunier vines planted in 1983 give life to this cuvée. They come from a massal selection made by Alexis’s grandfather. Their roots run deep into clay-limestone soils, while short pruning, natural cover crops and minimal mechanisation go hand in hand with a largely manual approach.
The 2022 grapes were harvested as whole bunches. In the cellar, spontaneous fermentation with indigenous yeasts takes place in stainless steel, followed by full malolactic fermentation. No fining. No filtration. Zero dosage. No compromises.
The result is a Meunier with real character: precise yet generous, structured yet vibrant. A wine that captures the sun, the soil and the family heritage behind it. Nothing superfluous. Nothing to hide.
Production: just 960 cases.
Champagne Les Pieds Dans La Terre Extra Brut 2020
A rare Champagne made from 70% Chardonnay, complemented by Pinot Noir and Meunier. The grapes come from a single south-facing parcel planted by Alexis’s grandfather in 1981.
Here, precision comes from simplicity: ageing in stainless steel, followed by four years on the lees, before disgorgement in late 2025. With a dosage of just 2 g/l, the wine lets the fruit and terroir speak for themselves, without weighing down the palate.
Production: fewer than 300 cases.
Two cuvées. One estate worth discovering. Tiny production, an uncompromising approach and a fresh perspective on Champagne.
A real hidden gem. Don’t miss out!
