Blouge is a blend of 70% Carignano Rosso and 30% Piquepoul Blanc. The Carignano is destemmed and macerated for three days in open wooden vats before being drained and pressed together with the Piquepoul Blanc. Co-fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks, followed by settling, and one month later the wine is transferred to used barriques for an ageing period of 24 months. This wine represents Mare Nostrum’s vision of bringing together the great emblematic grape varieties of southern France. The Carignano Rosso comes from the French Catalonia region, grown on sandy gneiss soils at an altitude of 400 metres. The Piquepoul originates from the Thau lagoon area in the Languedoc, where the terroir is composed of clay-limestone and sandy soils that are poor and stony.

Made from 100% Carignano Rosso, this wine undergoes a short whole-cluster fermentation of five days in open wooden vats. Fermentation is then completed in stainless steel tanks, followed by settling and 24 months of ageing in old used barriques. Light in colour yet deeply expressive, the wine is savoury, fresh, fruity, and delicately spicy, with an elegant ruby-red hue and a graceful, refined character. The vineyards are located in French Catalonia, in the Roussillon area, on sandy gneiss soils at an altitude of 400 metres.
