DISCOVERY BOX TENUTA FRATINI
Since its foundation in 2016, Tenuta Fratini has been dedicated to producing great red wines, fully expressing the identity of the Bolgheri terroir.
This new project focuses on high-altitude hillside vineyards, a dimension still relatively unexplored in the region. The estate covers 28 hectares of vineyards between 80 and 235 meters above sea level, on the southern slopes of the Colline Metallifere. Here, altitude brings greater freshness, slower ripening, and enhanced aromatic precision. This is further enriched by a complex mosaic of soils, limestone, clay, sandstone, and siliceous elements, resulting in wines that are structured, energetic, and strongly identity-driven.
In the cellar, the approach is equally rigorous: fermentations take place with indigenous yeasts via pied de cuve, preserving the authenticity and pure expression of each parcel.
Winemaking is overseen by Eric Boissenot, one of Bordeaux’s most respected names. Son of the legendary Jacques Boissenot, he advises some of the Médoc’s most prestigious estates: Château Lafite Rothschild, Château Latour, Château Margaux, and Château Mouton Rothschild.
This is his first project in Bolgheri, where he immediately recognised the extraordinary potential of this unique terroir.

From Donoratico, Castagneto Carducci. A blend of Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon grown on sedimentary soils rich in limestone and minerals. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks with indigenous yeasts, followed by 12 months of ageing in barriques. Deep purple colour. The nose shows Mediterranean notes and ripe fruit. On the palate it is balanced and elegant, with fine tannins and good freshness.

From Donoratico. A blend based on Cabernet Franc, complemented by Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, on sedimentary soils. Fermentation in stainless steel with indigenous yeasts, followed by 12 months in barriques. Bright ruby red colour. The nose reveals ripe red and black fruits with floral and spicy notes. The palate is deep and vibrant, with integrated tannins and a long finish.
