ETNA - SICILY, ITALY

NERELLO MASCALESE

Passopisciaro is the second great adventure of Andrea Franchetti, already renowned for his work at Tenuta di Trinoro. This time, he set his sights on Mount Etna, believing in the potential of its volcanic soils, high altitudes, and proximity to the sea, long before the area became the celebrated wine paradise it is today.

The winery’s philosophy is rooted in a deep connection to the land, expressed through intense yet elegant wines. Nerello Mascalese, the emblematic grape of Etna, lies at the very heart of the project.

THE FAMOUS “FRANCHETTI”

Franchetti also planted varieties such as Chardonnay and Cesanese d’Affile, the latter used to produce the iconic “Franchetti” wine, an embodiment of his innovative spirit. Today, Passopisciaro is led by his son Benjamin and managing director Vincenzo Lo Mauro.

With 23 hectares of vineyards and an annual production of 120.000 bottles, Passopisciaro stands as a symbol of Etna’s winemaking excellence, a place where tradition and innovation merge with vision and boldness.
