In the world of wine, December is not exactly a month when things slow down, quite the opposite actually. Between last-minute deliveries, bottles traveling right up to a few hours before Christmas, and an ever-growing number of toasts, time seems to run faster than ever. It’s only after the holidays, when the echo of the final glass fades, that we can pause for a moment and rediscover our own rhythm.
For this reason, Chronos Wine Cellar will be closed from December 31 to January 6 included. Regular activities will resume on January 7.
This pause also coincides with a natural moment for reflection. Looking back at the year that is coming to an end, we can say we are satisfied with the path we have taken. In a wine market that is currently experiencing a complex phase, even in Switzerland, Chronos is closing the year with solid results and figures that are up compared to previous years. This is an important sign, confirming the value of work built over time, with consistency and vision.
We have always believed in an approach based on small steps, deep knowledge of territories, listening, and authentic human relationships. In a context where speculative dynamics have often distorted the world of wine, we continue to believe in a healthy model founded on expertise, careful producer selection, and a direct and transparent relationship with those who choose to rely on us. It may be a less noisy path, but one capable of generating concrete, sound, and lasting results.
Throughout 2025, this growth was not limited to Ticino but involved several areas of Switzerland. Progress among private clients and the hospitality sector was distributed nationwide, strengthening our positioning as a point of reference for those seeking artisanal wine, dedicated consulting, and a contemporary approach to the purchase of wine, including in Lugano.
Switzerland is an extremely competitive market, populated by traditional importers, brokers, and highly structured operators. In this scenario, Chronos has consciously chosen not to fit into rigid categories. Ours is a modern and flexible model, with a carefully curated selection, where expertise remains at the center of everything, together with the human relationship. A project that stands on its own, capable of accompanying clients, restaurateurs, and enthusiasts on a journey of discovery and an authentic wine experience.
Despite market challenges, in 2025 we further expanded our portfolio, welcoming new producers who share our vision. We did so calmly and consciously, confident in the results achieved and in the market’s response. The number of wineries we represent today is significant for the type of company we are and will continue to grow in 2026 as well, always in a thoughtful and measured way.
Growth has also involved our internal organization. We improved logistics flows, revamped the website, introduced an online catalogue, updated shipping packaging, and expanded the team. All concrete actions designed to make Chronos Wine Cellar increasingly solid, efficient, and consistent with its identity.
Our annual event, the Portfolio Wine Tasting, held in Lugano on November 21, also confirmed this direction. A one-day event that, thanks to the presence of the vignerons and excellent attendance, once again proved to be a meaningful moment for the city, the region, and the community of wine lovers that animates this area (read the full event recap here).
Looking ahead to 2026, the goal is to continue improving on multiple fronts. We are working on a dedicated digital space, designed to make the online experience smoother and more refined, without turning into a purely digital company. A hybrid model, Chronos-style, where digital tools support and enhance human relationships, consulting, and direct dialogue.
We will continue to invest in communication, content, and selection, always with the same mindful approach. At the same time, we are already working on the next edition of our annual event and on new experiences designed to bring our producers and our community even closer, in a relaxed, authentic, and shared setting.
We would like to sincerely thank all our clients for their trust and ongoing dialogue, as well as our partner wineries and suppliers with whom we collaborate every day. Every meeting, every project, and every bottle helps give meaning to our work.
In the meantime, we are taking a few days to slow down, taste, reflect, and perhaps open something we’ve been waiting for for a long time. Curiosity never takes a break, but every now and then it needs to take its time. See you soon, with new stories to tell and new wines to discover together.
