TICINO - SWITZERLAND

CASTELLO DI MORCOTE
Perched on a sun-drenched promontory overlooking Lake Lugano, Tenuta Castello di Morcote stands as one of Ticino’s most captivating and evocative wine estates, where history, landscape, and contemporary vision come together in perfect harmony.
The medieval castle, dating back to the 15th century, lies at the heart of a natural amphitheater spanning 150 hectares of terraced vineyards, olive groves, and forest. The steep, south-facing slopes are rooted in rare pink porphyry, a volcanic rock that lends the wines their distinctive mineral elegance. Today, the estate is passionately run by Gaby Gianini and Maurizio Merlo, custodians of this unique place, alongside the talented winemaker Benedetta Molteni, who interprets the terroir with precision and sensitivity. The vineyards are farmed organically and largely worked by hand, with deep respect for biodiversity and the authentic identity of the land.
THE WINES
From this remarkable landscape emerges a collection of wines that truly captures the spirit of Morcote: elegance, purity, and a vibrant Mediterranean energy.
Both white and red wines from the estate stand out for their freshness, depth, and balance. The whites reveal fruit-driven and citrus notes interwoven with refined mineral nuances and a delicate saline edge, while the reds offer structure, complexity, and finely polished tannins. Each cuvée tells a coherent story of its origin, delivering finesse, precision, and impressive aging potential.
